Popularity rank 1 #307. Barry and Mega-Tune

November 12, 2009

BARRY: Attention listeners: this radio station will now only play simplified, one-note versions of songs created through a horrifying process called "MEGA-TUNE".

BARRY: You'll grumble, but then submit. As you have to every atrocity during what has become a 40-year march toward the complete homogenization of rock.

BARRY: So... after the break, I'll play all of John Mellancamp's "American Fool", but you'll just hear nine single notes matched with nine semi-patriotic grunts.

BARRY: It's gonna suck, but you deserve it. And I'm BARRY, the HONEST DJ. Back after this...
BRETT: Barry speaks the truth and it hurts so good.

TAXI DRIVER: You want louder?
BRETT: No, sire, I need you to turn OFF the radio! I've been avoiding the song "You're Beautiful" for over a YEAR, and I can't risk hearing--

TAXI DRIVER: Yes! James Blunt! I have CD, I put in for you....
BRETT: NO! AAAAUGH!

BRETT: (pant) (pant) (pant)

TAXI DRIVER: The... fare is 60 cents, my friend.
BRETT: Can I... (pant) have like... (pant) 18 bucks back... (pant) please?

Popularity rank 3 #6. The honest DJ

January 18, 2005

BARRY: We're coming into the top of the hour here at WHNT. And up next, we have the same 20 songs we played this morning....

BARRY: And which were played at the other 100 stations that are owned by the same conglomerate that owns us....

BARRY: In fact, you could burn a CD of these 20 songs and play it on "shuffle", and you'd accurately reflect our programming.

BARRY: But then you're miss me.... I'm Barry, the Honest DJ, back after this....
STEPHEN: Give 'em hell, Barry....
