CONTEST PROMOTER: OK. Rule #1: each band pays us a $150 entry fee.

RONI:
CONTEST PROMOTER:

RONI: AND...?
CONTEST PROMOTER: AND... it's $150 EXACTLY. We canNOT make change.

RONI: But... who wins? How do people vote?
CONTEST PROMOTER: Oh, I dunno... show of hands? Hey, it's $150 CASH, too. No, like, money orders or some shit.

Popularity rank 2 #333. Get a job

January 10, 2010

RONI: This BLOWS. Because of some tax thing, I won't get any of my dad's SETTLEMENT MONEY this month.
CHAR: Good...

RONI: You can get a JOB like the rest of us...
JOHN: I HAVE a job, Roni. I'm frontman of this BAND.

RONI: You sit around all day and do NOTHING.
JOHN: No, I work on stuff for the BAND.

RONI: John, you spent most of Friday photoshopping NIPPLES onto ZOE SALDANA pictures.
JOHN: For potential ALBUM covers for the BAND!

Popularity rank 3 #336. My boss is still pissed

January 13, 2010

JOHN: My settlement money got cut off, Dan. Hook me up with a GIG. Something EASY. No collating.
DAN: I dunno, my boss is still pissed at you.

JOHN: What, because I double-parked him in that one time? C'mon!
DAN: But... his daughter was in LABOR, man. He missed the birth of his grandson.

JOHN: I've SEEN his daughter, Dan. BELIEVE me. He'll GET more grandkids.
DAN: Heh, YEAH…

DAN: Wait, what does that MEAN?
JOHN: It means I'll see to it PERSONALLY if I have to, Dan! Just let me talk to the guy!

Popularity rank 4 #321. Setting a price on art

December 9, 2009

JOHN: Look, when you set a PRICE on your art, you are setting its VALUE. And I want to be mindful of the LONG-TERM.

JOHN: YOU see this CD as a shitty little 4-song demo, Roni. But I see it in 30 YEARS, as rare unearthed LOST TRACKS included on our 6-disc anthology BOX SET!

RONI: God DAMN it, John... You are so...

RONI: ...so INSPIRATIONALLY DELUSIONAL.
JOHN: Thank you. You are... You are WORDS, too.

Popularity rank 5 #320. Amie Street

December 7, 2009

RONI: Look, no one's pirating the demo. We'll just post it on Amie Street.
JOHN: Ugh, that's that "pay what you want" 99-cent site.

RONI: It's "pay by demand". It starts cheap, but the more it gets downloaded, the higher the price goes. What do you want to charge anyway?

JOHN: At LEAST $25 dollars...
RONI: 25 DOLLARS?

RONI: For a shitty 4-song demo recorded in a Kinko's breakroom?
DAN: My boss is still mad about that mug tree you broke.
JOHN: He's a DICK...
