Popularity rank 1 #324. Brooklyn Vegan link

December 16, 2009

CHRISTINA: Whoa, looks like BROOKLYN VEGAN linked to one of our mp3s.
JOHN: Whoa!
DAN: We're FAMOUS! Which one?

CHRISTINA: "Bickerhound"!
JOHN: No no NO! "Bickerhound" is a B-SIDE! "Cathartic TARGET Practice" is our breakout HIT!

JOHN: He needs to change it. Gimme this vegan guy's email number...
CHRISTINA: Jonathan, he can link to whatever he wants to.

JOHN: NO, he'll do what we SAY! WE'RE FAMOUS NOW!
DAN: YEAH! Ha ha!
RONI: You two have an extremely low fame tolerance.

Popularity rank 2 #78. A thousand crappy works of art

November 22, 2005

JOHN: Let's attack it like this: rather than put pressure on ourselves to try and write the perfect song, let's just commit to writing one new song every day.

JOHN: I've heard that any artist has, like, a thousand crappy works of art in them, and the sooner you get those out, you know, the sooner you do the awesome stuff.

DAN: That's cool. So, like, every bad song we write is actually helpful.
JOHN: Yeah, exactly.

DAN: So "Cathartic Target Practice" was like the most helpful song ever.
JOHN: "Cathartic Target Practice" is a misunderstood... look, let's just get started...

Popularity rank 3 #61. Rehearsal day solution

October 28, 2005

DAN: OK, so it's settled. We'll keep band rehearsal on Wednesday nights. Except when there's a new "Lost" on. Then we practice on Mondays.

DAN: Unless it's the first Monday of the month. Then we go on Thursday. But if Roni's little sister has a soccer game, we do Friday.

CHRISTINA: If I'm not out-of-town.
DAN: Yeah. If you are, we either cancel, or we do three separate half-hour rehearsals the following week.

RONI: Wouldn't it have just been easier to break up the band?
DAN: We also voted 3-to-1 that "Cathartic Target Practice" is a totebags lame song.
JOHN: It's a GREAT song.

Popularity rank 4 #57. Hour late to rehearsal

October 24, 2005

JOHN: OK, Dan is now officially an hour late to rehearsal.
CHRISTINA: Can't we just start without him, John?

JOHN: No! We specifically need to work on his guitar parts on "Cathartic Target Practice."

RONI: OK.

RONI: While we're waiting can we discuss what a dumbass song "Cathartic Target Practice" is?
CHRISTINA: It's... pretty dumbass.
JOHN: It's a GREAT song.

Popularity rank 5 #155. Which Song Will We Play?

November 6, 2006

JOHN: We can play ONE song in this contest. I say we do "Cathartic Target Practice".
RONI: "C.T.P." is not a SONG, John. It's a mass of unrelated words and notes.

JOHN: It's... it's a GOOD song!
DAN: How about that song that went so well last weekend?
RONI: (sigh) No, Dan.

DAN: What? Why not?
RONI: Because we're not playing a WEDDING this week, Dan.

RONI: I don't think this'll be a "Chicken Dance" kinda crowd.
DAN: Well, at least CONSIDER it....
JOHN: You all just... don't understand microtones.
CHRISTINA: (turns page)
